Britney Spears Snaps on American Idol

Maybe Britney Spears won't take American idol up on their offer. Idol judge and guru Simon Cowell recently said that he thought Britney may have destroyed her career with her disastrous performance at the MTV Video Music Awards and speaking at the San Diego, California auditions for the next American Idol contest, Jackson added: "We are going to manage Britney, we're gonna take good care of her... Britney, if you're listening, we're here for you."


Or maybe not. According to a report from Star Magazine Britney is treating the offer like so many others that have tried to help the pop wreck get her life and career back on track. The weekly entertainment magazine has a report that claims that Britney Spears loves to make fun of other people – and when she heard the American Idol team wanted to help her out, she went on a rant, according to a source who overheard it all.


Star reports that she said, "What a joke! They help me? I invented what they do!" She thought their offer was such a put-down that she cowed never to work with any of them. The she ripped each one, saying Paula was a "has-been freak," Simon is a "creepy Eurotrash guy who's mean and dated" and Randy is a "lame, cookie-cutter producer."

She said they were all passé and thought their move was a stunt to get them press. She said she wished they'd "shut up and mind their own effin' business." I'm not really sure idol has sunk low enough to use Britney for publicity - yet.

John Mayer Rips American Idol Carrie Underwood

What did American Idol Carrie Underwood ever do to on again off again Jessica Simpson sweetie John Mayer? Mayer, a guitar whiz kid may not want to quit his day job. The soulful singer broke into some kind of sappy sounding whining stand up routine where he rips on American idol winner Carrie. During the performance, at New York City's Comedy Cellar, he pokes fun at single life, his own music – and sings a raunchy ballad as part of a joke about Carrie Underwood's hit "Before He Cheats."

Of Carrie Underwood's song, he says: "It's basically a woman, for 4½ minutes, just abusing the s--- out of a guy." In a falsetto, he sings the lyrics about a woman keying her boyfriend's car with the chorus, "Maybe next time, he'll think before he cheats." Jokes Mayer: "Maybe he's not cheating. Maybe he kind of broke up with you and you're not hearing it."

Maybe the same could be said about Jessica. Mayer is constantly referred to as deep but comes across as shallow here in a sophomoric attempt at humor. Mayer also laments that as a male songwriter he can't get as aggressive in songs as female singers can – then makes up a raunchy ditty about sex and how the girl after the physical abuse 'will think next time before she speaks.

Drop the comedy mic and pick up a guitar man.

American Idol Finale Airs Tonight

American Idol has been criticized for a weak line up of performers and last night's performance had one stellar stage show by Jordin Sparks and one very weak finals effort by Blake Lewis. Now it's costing in the ratings as ABC's finale of Dancing with the Stars defeated American Idol. Matt Drudge reports online:

Fox and wunderkind Simon Fuller hit with a historic TV upset Tuesday night -- after ABC's Dancing with the Stars competition pulled in higher ratings than American Idol According to early numbers Dancing scored a 16.5 rating/25 share to Idol's 16.3/25, in what network insiders are calling a 'photo-finish'.

Continuing: "Our results show is tonight," explains an confident Fox executive, "we'll see who is left standing on the stage." The upset comes as the nation's top-rated show experienced viewership erosion late in the season, at one point, falling more than 15% from a year ago.

Dancing easily topped the night in the nation's top cities, pulling a 32 share peak in Chicago and 33 peak in Philly. American Idol should have seen this coming, it was a very weak season with little talent.

I'm other news American Idol finalist Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis are ready to hear Americas decision. Both Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis are attractive, talented and have millions of adoring fans. That's where their similarities end.

The two telegenic singers -- The Beauty and The Beatboxer, respectively -- will try to out-sing, out-groove and out-charm one another in this week's fairy-tale finale. Who's gonna win? It's a tough call. Though many argue that Sparks is the clear frontrunner, Lewis is full of surprises.

Indeed, the pressure of performing live on the top-rated competition -- and standing out amid the Sanjaya phenomenon -- was no easy task. Everyone's a winner, right?

Sanjaya Malakar is Safe on American Idol

Another week and another upset? American Idol fans are holding their collective breath waiting to see if this is the week that Sanjaya Malakar finally gets voted off. His performance Tuesday night was less than stellar, but predictions from Dial Idol claim the young man with the funky hair will remain safe. Odds were that he will stay, but the oddsmakers have missed a bunch this year.

As the show unfolds we now know that Sanjaya Malakar has made it safe, he is not in the bottom two. Are the votes being manipulated by the likes of VoteForTheWorst .com or shock jock Howard Stern? Both are actively soliciting Votes for Sanjaya. Not because he is great, but because he is pathetic. What will Sanjaya do with his hair next week?

Some analysts had used the very popular website Dial idol.com, noted that even Jordin Sparks might sink to the bottom, but her performance on Tuesday and her overall talent had better keep her on the show for a long time. Now we know that she is safe.

Gambling 911 notes that Dial Idol measures busy signals for each Idol's phone line to determine who has the most number of votes. The site has not been entirely accurate this season. Last week, Chris Richardson appeared among the bottom two, but was not in danger of having the least number of votes according to DialIdol.

The votes are in. Borderline contestant Chris Richardson and Gina Glocksen are safe. All of the contenders are safe. Reports are that Phil Stacey and Haley Scarnato were at the bottom of the list. The third is Chris Sligh.

Carrie Underwood is Linked To Another NFL Quaterback

Country singing star and former American Idol Carrie Underwood has been linked on and off to Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo since a national television appearance last Thanksgiving at Texas Stadium. She has never confirmed any romance with the hunky NFL signal caller (even though he spilled the details to a small newspaper in Illinois) but the American Idol winner is again rumored to be dating Tony. Now this weekend, the gorgeous blonde with the beautiful voice will again be on national TV with a quarterback.

Carrie is the musical guest on Saturday Night Live where she will appear with Super Bowl MVP Peyton Manning. Don't worry, he's happily married but it would be good if he would ask Carrie how Tony is doing in the off-season to set the record straight. Manning recorded short ads with Carrie after the "American Idol" winner rehearsed her songs "Before He Cheats" and "Wasted." The spots are running now.

In its 32nd season, "SNL" is older than Manning, who turns 31 on Saturday. He will join an impressive list of athletes who've hosted the program, including Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Derek Jeter and Tom Brady. "The first thing I told (the 'SNL' staff) is, I'm wide open to making a fool out of myself," Manning said.

The Indy Star reports that Eli Manning, Peyton's brother and quarterback for the New York Giants, is expected to appear in the show, and maybe even his parents and other brother.

And since that rather large monkey was lifted off his back with the Indianapolis Colts Super Bowl win, a sketch is being considered that uses an NCAA basketball pool to make fun of the quarterback's reputation -- before winning the big one -- for losing big games. He should be able to relax, at least a little bit, when Carrie takes the stage. She's used to winning as well.

Starvation For Sanjaya

A woman on MySpace feels so strongly that Sanjaya Malakar does not belong on "American Idol" -- that she is starving herself until he is voted off the show!

Identifying herself only as "J," she is now four days into a hunger strike, saying, "I have no problems with Sanjaya personally, he seems like a very personable and charming young man. However, he does NOT belong on 'American Idol.'" Preach it, sister!

After Tuesday night's episode, "J" wrote, "Sanjaya did come out of his shell a bit tonight like the judges said. However, his voice was horrific. He screamed through the entire song and jumped around like a manic person. Nice kid, nice kid, but not for 'American Idol.'"

"J" says she is definitely hungry now, but is drinking a lot of fluids. She also says she is "having slight hallucinations." It's almost like watching him without fasting.

Ryan Seacrest knew exactly what he was doing when he made a somewhat obscene hand gesture on camera during American Idol last night. Of course he masked it as if he was talking about the mic stand, but he wasn’t, and he knew it. Paula, Randy, and Simon picked up on it too. Funny stuff. As obnoxious as they are during the show, I think I’d like to go out boozing with Seacrest and Simon some night - these guys know how to have fun.

Simon Cowell Says He's Bigger Than The Boss

In a story reported by The Associated Press. Simon Cowell says he's bigger than The Boss. In an interview to air Sunday on CBS' "60 Minutes," the "American Idol" judge says he's worth five times more to Sony BMG than Bruce Springsteen.

"I sell more records than Bruce Springsteen, sure," Cowell says of the 57-year-old rocker, who signed a contract that was reported to be in the neighborhood of $100 million.

"I mean, in the last five years, I've probably sold over 100 million records. If (Springsteen) got one hundred (million dollars), I should have got five hundred (million dollars)," he says.

Cowell says he sells all those records because he's signed "the biggest artist on the planet" - Fox network's "American Idol."

"Every single `Idol' winner is now signed through Sony BMG," says Cowell. "And this applies to ... all the countries ... we sell `Idol' to, which is over 30 countries."

Albums by "American Idol" winners and runners-up are distributed by labels within the Sony BMG system through a deal between Clive Davis and 19 Recordings Unlimited, the label managed by "American Idol" creator Simon Fuller.

Interviewer Anderson Cooper asks Cowell, 47, whether his deal with Sony BMG is in the same neighborhood as Springsteen's.

"A hundred million ... that's a great deal," Cowell says.

Was he referring to himself or Springsteen?

"For him," Cowell says, grinning. "For him it's a good deal."

Last night on American Idol Antonella Barba, yet again, attempted to sing . Antonella definitely didn't disappoint with her terrible rendition of “Put Your Records On“. By the end, she was good, but the first 3/4 of the song was just so terribly wonderful. Every week I am more amazed by how this girl from New Jersey has made it this far. Some say its her popularity some say she can actually sing. Some say the show is rigged for ratings. What ever it is, I am at a loss. But, apparently Antonella is not, because she is getting quite famous. I found her on My Space with her picture, (posted above) along with her headline, saying it all to clearly. “Keep Talking. You’re making me Famous” ...and now becasue of all the attention to her My Space , Antonella has changed her name to Lucy Hess! You gotta love it! Lucy fits her much better! I Love her sense of humor!

Anyway, If she makes it past tonight it will be a damn shame. There are 7 ,way, more talented girls in the competition this week . Even Simon Says he wishes she could sing better. A.I. may be trying to get the public to kick her to the curb. If she does get in the top 12 . The American Idol Shit will hit the Fan.

It’s a dirty job, and Joe Francis wants scandalized American Idol contestant Antonella Barba to do it.

Francis is offering Barba the career-building opportunity to join his Girls Gone Wild boobie-flashing empire as the series’ new host.

In the deal, Barba is being offered $250,000 to follow in the footsteps of past hosts Snoop Dogg and former Real World cast members Syrus, Tonya, Cameran and Ace (Notice that the names get more and more soap opera-like each season? Thadeus can only be next.)

Barba became an instant sensation this season when racy photos of her appeared on the web.

While many are left to wonder what the big deal is, there is one person who is crying foul; former “Idol” contestant, Frenchie Davis, who had a few things she wanted to get off her chest!

“I was sort of thrown to the wolves,” Frenchie said of her “Idol” departure.

Antonella Barba Escapes The Cut on American Idol

"American Idol" viewers squashed the dreams of four more aspiring singers Thursday night, but Antonella Barba, the focus of recent attention over some racy Internet photos, was not one of them.

Alaina Alexander, Leslie Hunt, Nicholas Pedro and A.J. Tabaldo were voted off in the phone ballotting, which drew about 32 million calls and text messages. Sixteen hopefuls remain of the 24 who began the elimination rounds.

Perhaps the night's biggest surprise was that 20-year-old Barba, of Point Pleasant, N.J., was staying. "I thought you were worse than last week," Simon Cowell said Wednesday after her less-than-stellar cover of Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me."

"Idol" Taylor Hicks Off to a Bad Start

Last years American Idol Winner, Taylor Hicks, is asking The Soul Patrol to kick it up a notch.

His self-titled, post-"Idol" album, released in December, debuted at No. 2 on the charts. While it has sold a respectable 640,000 copies, it has slid significantly to a dismal rank: 136 this week. Discs by previous winners Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia and Ruben Studdard performed a lot better in the weeks after they were issued. And finalist Chris Daughtry is near the top of the charts with the self-titled debut of his band Daughtry — they have sold over 1 million records.

Geoff Mayfield, a senior analyst at Billboard, said he's got "a strong suspicion that (Hicks) might be the first winner who falls shy of a million units."
